CALL FOR ARTISTS
We’re proud to bring an incredible opportunity for local artists to work on our public art project.
The City of DeSoto is seeking to commission an artist or team of artists to design and produce an original public art installation as a Reflection Walk to be located along the Roy Orr Trail. The walking trail is a highly accessible destination used for passive recreation nestled within a partially wooded limestone escarpment. Follow this link for information on the program and to download the application.
City of DeSoto's First Public Art Mural
The City of DeSoto is setting its mark in history once again with the completion of its first art mural called "Pleasant Run Portal."
Local artist and entrepreneur JD Moore is the mastermind behind this art mural and his inspiration behind this mural will live on for decades to come.
The strong relationship between local City government and residents blend in perfectly with the colors and figures on the wall.
Watch the below to hear Moore's story and his journey to bring this iconic piece to life.
Mayor Curtistine McCowan, with oversight from the Arts Commission, has determined that DeSoto's city government is ready to expand its role in making arts and cultural resources more visible and accessible.
